Another great evening with the Wolf on 6055 with SINPO 55544 in the middle of Holland
The Wolfman was coming in strong last night 21-05-08 here in Central London. I was listening on 6055khz from 21-38utc and the sinpo was 44444..
A very good signal indeed. Rocking over the ocean.
Strong signal this Thursday night SINPO 55555, only a few small moments with light fading SINPO 55544. Great show by the Jack

Well it is summertime…. almost every evening a good reception over here in Holland . This Friday the 23rd SINPO 55544 till SIO 555 for most of the time.
Good reception tonight on 6055…a little bit more fading in the +/- first 30 minutes SINPO 55534. Last +/- 30 minutes SINPO 55544 on a telescopic antenna.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the USA TX on 6110 starting at 02.00 UTC…the last weeks it’s bringing in some extra reports from Japan and New Zealand.
From Japan we are receiving many reports since several months.
Reports from South America are +/- the same as on 6255/6265 and 6235 kHz.
Hi Guys …
Nice new layout Eric. Good to see the KBC website up and running again.
Also good to hear you back on the KBC mic for the last few Saturdays. Looking forward to the BRI “birthday” prog next month too.
As for reception of The Mighty KBC over the last few weeks, it’s been holding up well here in Guernsey. A regular 45544 (or better) with overall signal strengths reading S9+10 to S9+40 dB.
If I wake up at 02.00 utc on Sunday then I’ll check 6110 kHz out. (I woke up last week at around 02.30 utc, thought to myself, “Ah good, I’ll see what reception is like”, then fell back to sleep before I managed to reach over and swith the rig on.)
Okay for now. Catch up with you all again soon.
Robin (Guernsey)
Good reception in Holland for the USA TX on 6110 this Sunday morning between 02.15 and 02.45 UTC…that’s 04.15 CET…Perfect reception, I used a very small Redsun of only a few Dollars and a small telescopic antenna of +/- 50 cm, even with only an antenna length of +/- 15 the reception was without any noise. This radio isn’t having a signal meter, but the signal certainly was blasting in….the only competition over here were the birds singing in the garden….
Horizontal reception
)<-<
Amazingly I was awake at 01:55 UTC this morning.
VOA was on 6110 kHz when I tuned in at first, but at 02:00 they made way for The Mighty KBC … S7 to S9+10 dB with slight fading, otherwise fair reception overall here in Guernsey.

Greetings from the sunny Isle of Bute in western Scotland, off the mouth of the River Clyde. I’m situated two miles north of Rothesay at the yacht habour of Port Bannatyne, and I live next to the sea. Wolfman Jack is howling around here 55555, strongest signal on 49 metres. Listened the past two nights 11 to closedown at 1140 British Summer Time. Real fun just like the watery wireless days. Strage how the same presenters moved to legitimate on-shore studios never sounded the same. Your WOLFMAN sounds much the same as tapes I’ve heard of XER and XRM
Wolfman Jack of 1969. Just great I’ll spread the word.

“Garden Chair” reception this evening (Saturday 31st May).
I missed the first half hour, but managed to catch the second half whilst lounging around in the garden and munching on a cornish pastie.
Good quality reception – (SIO:444) – on the Roberts R861 and telescopic antenna.
————-
Maybe I’ll catch the first half of the px at 02.00 UTC on 6110 kHz (indoors of course, and minus the pastie:-)
Heavy thunderstorms here in Holland, but no problem for the KBC signal…the needle in the right corner, even the lightning wasn’t causing any problems….missed the USA TX …
Report from Veenendaal Holland
First 30 minutes some splash from Radio Sweden on 6065 strong signal SINPO 54444 and for the last 30 minutes SINPO 55555

Hello.
“The Mighty KBC” blasting a good signal to Portugal!
Heard last night (2008-06-10) on 6057 Khz, at QTH QTH IM60DK, between 23.30 and 0015 UTC with Wolfman Jack (isn´t he dead already?), then the transmission went bsrk (flapping sounds, only carrier, then simply off, possible jam).
Reminds me of WKBW in Buffalo, NY, USA.
Signal 9+, some fading.
Recieved on a Yaesu FT980, outdoor longwire.
I’ll keep on checking.
Today by post a nice report came in from Mr. Hidemitsu Miyake living in Hiroshima-City Japan for the 8th of june on 6055, so that means that Big L Shortwave presented by David Hamilton was heard in Japan on 6055 kHz
Here is last Thursday’s transmission of June 12th, recorded in Timisoara.

I heard the Mighty KBC last night 13-06-08 from 21-48utc on 6055khz. The signal was rock solid with a sinpo of 44444.
The Wolfman sounded really great. He was rocking over the ocean.
See my pic of me on 11 meters in my stripey tee shirt in the radio shack pics section !
Here is a recording of the complete hour of June 15th, recorded in Kortenhoef.

A very strong signal signal, but strange enough there was a “hum” under the signal which was not generated by the radio itself (RNW on 6040 kHz was a clear signal) perhaps something from Sitkunai and lots of fading the first 30 min.
It began with a SINPO 54434 and it ended with a SINPO 55455
Radio is a Sony ICF-7600D with only the telescopic antenna.
It was again a pleasure to listen to, but it was the Wolfman in stead of Eric van Willegen?
Good reception during this early Sunday morning
15th June 2008 here in Sotkamo, NE Finland, Europe
on 6110 kHz at 02.00 GMT. Receiver; Grundig Satellit 650 International and some longwires to the New World.
Super Show by the Jack. SIO 544 for the first 30 minutes, SIO 555 for the last 30 minutes.
Yesterdag again a nice show with Wolfman. The music was more middle of the road than usual, but still pleasant to listen to.
Signal was strong, but in the beginning there was fading, well listne for yourself, here is the recording of the complete transmission.

The Mighty KBC was rocking into the Eastern Coast of the United States no problem. I was able to pick you guys up at about a 57-58 with a little bit of fading but very listenable. This was on an Eton E5 off of the whip and I’m sure if I had switched to my ICOM IC 703 it would have come in even better.
Great job guys!

The Mighty KBC in the Glasgow Herald
Here’s the mention in The Diary of June 25
http://www.theherald.co.uk/features/diary/display.var.2361997.0.msps_talk_pants.php
OUR Scottish Parliament members were debating setting up a register of Scottish tartans, when Labour’s Dave Whitton, MSP for Strathkelvin and Bearsden, suddenly declared, and we quote from the official report: “I will happily give way to any member who cares to identify the tartan of my tie.” Tavish Scott: “MacDonald of Clanranald.” Whitton: “Wrong.” Ted Brocklebank: “Polo by Ralph Lauren.” Whitton: “No, that is my underwear, but we will not go there.” Goodness, it must be earning so much that keeps them so cheery.
Binman’s holiday
WE mentioned the Glasgow City council wheely-bin photographed at the border between Chile and Argentina. A council spokesman tells us they now have to whittle down the huge number of volunteers who want to go over to empty it.
Flesh air
A READER was listening to a shortwave radio station, The Mighty KBC, the other night when the DJ – transmitting from Lithuania we think – growled in a passable impersonation of radio legend Wolfman Jack: “I gotta good Scotch friend. Works in dermatology. Made a million.
“And all done from scratch.”
Good reception this evening in the middle of Holland SINPO 55544 on the telescopic antenna. Great show of Britain Radio. Ket’s keep our fingers crossed for the USA TX at 02.00 UTC on 6110

A very strange comment this time from me…..At the moment Iam in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania and also the location of KBC’s 6055 transmitter, better say I look directly to the antenna from my apartment here.
And, believe me or not but receiption is very poor at the 29th of July, UTC 21.45 ( local 0.44 ).
I have no idea about the source of it, I am not under the antenna but look directly to it.
And….it is not the Himalaya radio, that one receives BigL 1395 every night perfect from 223.00 CET.
So, maby it is time to use a hammer on the the 6055 trabnsmitter or have a better look at the antenna connection, i mean 100 out must give at least 100% at a distance of maby 1 km;0

Hello Peter,
Hope you are enjoying your holiday in Vilnius.
But you are looking at the 612 kHz antenna.
KBC is broadcasting from Sitkunai, not Vilnius.
Sitkunai is a village 120 km west of Vilnius.

To confirm it was your station I list the following programme details that I heard
At 2145 gmt after dvert for kbc radios heard disc “The beat goes on” then at 2146 gmt disc “One of these nights”, at 2148 gmt letter read out then adverts for consumer electrics, at 2150 gmt advert for Isle Of Bute then disc “Killing me softly with his song”, at 2155 gmt disc “Shake, rattle and roll, then at 2200 gmt advert for radio Wr2100 then at 2203 gmt disc “Montego bay”

If you send out QSL cards I would be pleased to receive one from you to verify my reception of your station , If you do not send QSL cards then please can you send to me a letter confirming my reception of your radio station. You will do me an enormous service. I will happily place your reply in its place in my collection of radio station verifications
My home in England is located in the beautiful College Valley, some 20 klms west from the small town of Wooler and in the Cheviot Hills. It is excellent walking country and each weekend in the summer we get many walkers passing our house. Sometimes we get radio amateurs up here as the height of the hills lets them get many long distance contacts.
After retiring from work I have now taken up the radio listening hobby again. I was surprised to find that a lot of stations I used to hear are no longer on the air. I miss hearing them again.
My best regards to you all and thank you. I will be happy to find your letter in my mailbox. If possible, please do send some information about your radio station. Thank you
Best wishes……EDWARD BAKER
Reception in Berlin was weak, bad conditions the last 2 evenings on a small Redsun portable.
Finally listened to the Mighty KBC again and it is still magical to hear the voice of yesterday with all kinds of crackles and other secret sounds. A pitty that it is late in the Netherlands when the Wolfman is howling over the airwaves.
There was fading and there seemed to be also a low “hum” in the signal, but overall a SIO 544 on a Sony ICF-7600D with internal telescopic antenna.
received kbc on most days from scottish highlands glen carron lodge and isle of mull strong with little fading, back in hampshire tonight with fading and interference (normally good). radio’s in scotland Philips l6×38t, hampshire Philips D2999, BX998, Sony CRF160 all similar reception
The saturday broadcast suffered indeed from fading and interference, more than friday. The music was more classic rock oriented.
SIO 534
First +/- 40 minutes were very good here, a much weaker 6040 and 6065 at that time, but the last 20 minutes a much weaker signal and a lot of fading….
I also picked up the USA TX at 02.00 till 2.45 UTC this morning…great signal on a very cheap and small Redsun with a telescopic antenna of +/- 60 cm….
It was some time ago that I tuned in during this time…
I have recorded the signal on 6040 from 1h20 till 7, only noise here….
Peter…you surprised me…it’s 6110 during the summertime….

Dear staffs of the Mighty KBC,
I’m a Japanese DX hobbyist, Nobuya Kato.
I’m very glad to receive your test transmission to Australia today at last!!
In fact, I took late summer holidays early in this September to visit Finland and three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. When I visited Lithuania, I visited the transmitter site at Sitkunai where your broadcast is transmitted. I was really surprised the vast area with transmitting facilities.
And as I brought my portable radios of SONY ICF-2001D and ICF-SW100, I tried to receive your regular broadcast on 6055kHz from 2130UTC, which means 0030 local time (very late at night ) in these countries I stayed. I tried every night in the hotel room I stayed, but sorry to say, I could not receive your transmission at all. So I was really disappointed.
After I came home in Japan, I came to know that you would send test transmission to Australia. Then I tried to receive you last week on September 20, I could not hear clearly.
But today, the signal was much stronger than that on last week. Although the reception was disturbed by heavy noise, I confirmed popular music, and at 1056UTC, I confirmed the station identification “You are listening to a test transmission of Mighty KBC” at last.
I’m really glad to confirm your ID as above.
And here is my basic receiving data:
Date of reception: September 27, 2008
Time of reception: 1030-1059UTC (But the transmitting carrier was already confirmed several minutes before 1030UTC.)
Frequency: 9770kHz
Language of announcement: English
Receiver: AOR AR-7030
Antenna: T2FD passive longwire antenna
Contents of the program: Popular music, songs with short announcements by a male voice between the songs. ID was confirmed at 1056, and the last song was arranged classical tune of “The Turkish march”.
Reception condition: SINPO 33333-23232-34443. The reception was disturbed by heavy noise, but the reception quality became better on last 10 minutes, and I was lucky enough to confirm the station ID at 1056 as described above.
Finally, I will tell you my mailing address by another e-mail, so please send me a QSL-card.
I hope I will be able to receive the last test transmission on October 4.
Thank you very much for your kind interest,
With best regards,
Nobuya Kato
Heee.. nu 2.39 UTC..nog steeds nix op 6110/6040?
Hi Ron,
Frequency has been changed…it’s now 6145 kHz for the USA TX. Hopefully Cuba on 6140 will not splatter that much…till the winter season is starting on the 26th of October.
We had to change frequency, that’s why we moved some to the new frequency.
This year we moved to new frequencies so many times…
We have lost many reactions, please resend your reactions, if you can’t publish your reaction, send an e-mail to

Hi Guys,
its been soooooooooooooooooo long since I posted here. Ahem! Must try harder.
Anyway I do get the odd chance to listen to Wolfman now & again. Conditions have been good to me of late, even when I’ve tried to record the programs! It can’t last! The propagation angel will fall out with me soon }:->-
Anyway, here’s my recording of Chri$tma$ days Wolfman program.
I’m quite proud of the quality considering it was transfered from MD to MP3 on the PC. See what you think. Its the whole hour so for those that missed it, here’s your chance to hear it, or just listen again & enjoy.
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=444d11569c04f715d2db6fb9a8902bda
It was recorded in Nuneaton (where? Exactly!
using my $ony SW100E, Kimber Tonik audio cable & an ancient $ony MD.
I find if I use the Kimber cable non of the RFI generated by the MD when it writes to disk gets picked up by the Radio.
Anyway guys keep up the great work on the station. I look forward to many more quality transmissions.
Skaface

Happy weekend!

Listening to the Jolly Rog. Reception was excellent for the first half hour, then a European station made listening impossible. It cleared up after a few minutes thankfully but the second half keeps fading out.
Nice choice of music Rog.
Listening here in Essex, England on my Tevion portable transistor radio which I got from Aldi for just £9.99. What a bargain!
After a little fading a strong signal in the middle of Holland. Wolfie is coming out of the speaker loud and clear. Used a Redsun this time and the telescopic antenna.
The last 13 minutes heavy fading and a much weaker signal.
Also yesterday a strong signal with Roger on 6055.
Good reception on Tuesday and Wednesday in the dunes of Zoutelande, a small coastal town close to Vlissingen. Only some fading the first 10 minutes yesterday at the start of the show…
Every evening here in western germany, 60km north from cologne, strongest signal and good music programm. Also a good AM-Sound. Rx is a SABA Villingen, 5Tube-Receiver from 1968 and Dipol-Antenna.
I was camping in Titusville, Florida this weekend. I caught the tail end of the Chirpy Show, and I thought about how great it was to hear something entertaining over the shortwave again! The two-fer of the Beatles was great, and so were the Searchers. I will try to pick you up here at my home in Jacksonville next weekend.
The signal was good with occasional fade-out, but I never lost you until sign-off. Keep up the fab programming!
Thank you radiowhiz, if you’d like to hear any of the shows you’ve missed (including the Wolfman and Roger Davis) try the listen again feature here: http://www.kbcradio.eu/?cat=22
Beautiful reception on 9770 kHz for the last hour here in Berlin, Germany.
Only rare short fading (planes?), otherwise strong and stable modulation.

Listening at 0900 UTC (Sunday) in Wyoming just north of Sydeny on the ast coast of Australia. Some interference and noise as well as fading. Was better about an hour ago.
Excellent signal: SINPO 55555 on 9770 kHz here in Germany, 200 km southly Berlin. And brilliant music, like from british offshore pirate stations in the sixties.
Congratulation
Thank You Rolf, we’ve all had a great time this weekend so we’re glad you’ve enjoyed it.
Chirpy
Hi I finally had the time to listen to you this morning, switched on my 1962 Philips tube radio, hooked a small am loop antenna to it. Tuning around the 30m field and soon found your signal. Clear and strong, with some fading ofcourse. Shows are very entertaining, nice music.
I am living in the Netherlands, near Zwolle, approx 40 km from the am 1395 transmitter site . Shame that was closed down last year. BigL was really booming in here. I know that listening through the internet is possible but I’m kinda missing the typical am sound. Think I’m getting old.
Nice signal in the evenings, listen most nights, nice to have something entertaing to listen to on HF again.
Shortwave is not dead yet!
Keep up the good work
Vic
Agh, yes, i am in the UK by the way.
Great reception in the middle of Holland this Saturday!
Wondering what 6110 will bring at 02.00 UTC
Great reception here too, it was almost as though Chloé was in the other room!

Heard the broadcast last night. I listened to the Wolfman Jack show from about 2130-2230UTC. It was a good strong signal for the whole hour but there was a little propogation in the first 15 minutes. After that it was like a local signal.

Enjoyed tonight’s show !
Sorry, nothing scientific to say….. just found it as advertised in the old 49m band with my old Hacker Helmsman !
My own medium wave rebroadcast of Big L Int only gets as far as the bottom of the garden, thus not much use… must try harder !

Good signal with some fading.
Tonight the final close down
with the close down pending….
Do all these good signal reports not stand for anything?
I guess not anymore.
Date: Wednesday 30th September 2009.
Time: 2130-2230 GMT.
Frequency: 6055 kHz.
Location of reception: Urban and 25kms South West of London.
Type of receiver: Communications.
Receiver: Yaesu Musen FRG-8800.
Aerial: External 15 meter longwire “L”.
Other equipment used: Yaesu Musen FRT-7700 [aerial tuning unit].
Quality of reception: Sinpo 55555 , S9+40dB.
Comment on reception: I am delighted to say that there was very good reception once the transmission finally started with a strong signal around S9+40dB along with NO interference or noise made reception just great and it would not surprize me if the signal was peaking into North America as well as here in North Western Europe.
Hi Nick,
Thank you for your report.
Yes reports are coming in from the States, so after a bad start the signal was super strong tonight.
A very unfortunate last broadcast on the 6055 from Lithuania. Here is my recording made from the K-PO WR-2100

HI Eric, Roger and all at KBC Big L. Great reception here in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK Midlands at night. Tune in to The Wolfman and Rosko every night. The lights on my receiver stay mostly on the green. Also use my loop frame in the day at weekends, signal great at the weekend, just fading occasionally. Also tune in on my basic Ford car radio, no problem at all. In fact i listened to Chirpys Great show on last Saturday afternoon while i drove around the city. Also listened to Rogers brill show weekdays, while driving around Stoke as well. Anyway keep up the Good work guys. All the Best for Christmas and 2010. Steve….
Hello again folks. Heard the continuous music prog. this morning all the way down into Stafford, UK Midlands, on the M6 motorway from Stoke-on trent. Then Rogers Great afternoon show, while driving around Stoke-on-trent again in my works vehicles. Anyway all the luck in the world keeping the excellent station back on air again. Steve….
Good Signal during the night-hours on the 1395AM here in Luxemburg, thanks for the Wolfman show :p
Great too hear the late Wolfman most nights. Brings back good memories, also the Mighty Rosko. Long may they spin the platters that matter. Keep on keepin on….
Very good signal during the day and the night, except 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Usually I listen your 60’s and 70’s oldies (Radio Luxembourg style) driving my car here in North-East Italy without interference from other stations! Your luck is a free frequency!! Thanks a lot!!! Enrico from Rovigo city.

Reception in West Sussex and Hampshire is not good on the car radio the impression is that the frquency has slipped slightly from 1395 as car radios are fixed frequencies9khz apart Reception is very fuzzy or impossible to listen to
